Rather Fictional fragments, diary, fiction

About

Hi, I'm Avery. This is where I write to make things sit still for a moment.

I am not a professional writer. I love books, admire people who can build whole worlds with words, and keep returning to the practice anyway because I need what writing does to the inside of my head.

Mostly writing to understand things.

Why this exists

The first note worth reading is The Reason for All of This. The short version is simpler: I need the process of writing to understand what is not right in my head, and to let the good things stay long enough to matter.

What lives here

  • Short fiction that borrows heat from real life.
  • Blog posts that are subjective on purpose.
  • Pretty digital artefacts, because building them is part of the point.

A tiny timeline

2023

The site begins

This corner of the internet started as a place to practice writing and let thoughts become visible.

Ongoing

Fiction and diary start blending

Some entries stay close to real life, some drift away from it, and that ambiguity becomes part of the form.

Still true

The process matters

Writing here is a way to keep the mind moving, let the good things prosper, and make the less tidy thoughts manageable.

Writing here

These stories do not need to be strictly true. They can borrow from life, lean into feeling, and rearrange events until they say what I actually mean.

Making the site

The site is built with Astro. Some images are made with AI assistance, but the stories and photographs are mine. Building the container is part of the writing practice too.
